Our Mission

Our mission is to help disadvantaged children, especially those without parental care, to grow up to succeed in life.

Our Goals

Our Goals

We take a holistic approach that directly helps the individual child and improves their support network.
We work towards better education, wellbeing and a secure family environment - and see young people in Ukraine and Malawi develop into careers that were previously out of reach.

Partnering for Impact

By partnering with others and building their capacity, we’re able to make a greater, more sustainable difference.

With over 25 years of experience in Ukraine, and 20 in Malawi, we have built up trust, extensive networks and a reputation for being on the side of children and family care.

Our Purpose

Our vision is to ensure the most vulnerable children receive the support they need to improve their wellbeing, develop their potential and succeed in independent life.

To achieve this, we have made it our mission to provide children in care with the people, services and opportunities that will strengthen, empower and prepare them to better their circumstances.

Our objectives are to help vulnerable children overcome trauma, get the knowledge and skills they need to thrive, and enable them to positively integrate into society. We believe by doing this, we are providing the children we support - in both Ukraine and Malawi - with the best chance to succeed.

To meet our objectives and better the lives and opportunities of vulnerable children, we put the child at the centre of everything we do. We take a holistic approach that directly helps the individual child and improves their environment. By partnering with others, we’re able to make a greater, more sustainable difference.

Support the Carer

We train and support carers, foster parents and social workers, so the children they open their homes and hearts to are provided the supportive relationships and environment they need to flourish.

We Develop the Child

In Ukraine, only 10% of children who have been raised in care will successfully integrate into society and only 20% of children complete lower secondary school in Malawi. We help better the opportunities for vulnerable children in both countries, and with the right social development, preparation and enough support, they can beat the odds.

Our comprehensive range of services and programmes support the child at any point in their development journey. We balance the social, emotional and wellbeing needs of the child with the education, knowledge and skills required to gain employment, contribute to society and lead a stable and successful life.

Our programmes strengthen, empower and prepare children in care, improving lives and opportunities.

We Support the Carer

We train and support carers, foster parents and social workers, so the children they open their homes and hearts to are provided the supportive relationships and environment they need to flourish.

Foster parents and carers appreciate our expert-led support groups, regular training and resources, which they say helps them to find solutions to parenting challenges. We also offer:

  • Comprehensive Family Camps with workshops and activities for carers and their families
  • ‘Parenting in Action’ resources provide a national platform for sharing information and best practice
  • ‘Providing a Secure Base’ expert training, enabling national use of the globally recognised care model for foster parents
Every child needs a family - so we promote foster care and provide expert support for children and carers.

We Partner for Impact

As the policy to de-institutionalise care across Ukraine creates new foster families, this increases both the urgency and opportunity for partnerships to deliver training and support. We partner and work with volunteers, the local community, Government bodies and NGOs to raise awareness, provide ‘best practice’ models and tools of support, and to expand our reach so we can help more people in need. Through these partnerships, we are able to access and help more foster families and provide the best possible results for the children.

We also work with:

  • Volunteers – providing the training and opportunities to enable people to positively influence the lives of vulnerable children in their communities
  • Businesses – partnering to provide job orientation and internship opportunities for youth, and collaborating on projects to put Corporate Social Responsibility into action
  • Government – training and sharing expertise with others, to support the policy to de-institutionalise care and collaborate with NGOs

Partnership with Prof Mary Beek of the University of East Anglia delivers training for carers across Ukraine.
